Healing Journey With Anita Trupiano

Anita has been with me through thick and thin. We started our relationship as she was my yoga student pre-pandemic. She stayed with me online as I morphed to zoom yoga during the pandemic, and she emergd as one of my beautiful healing clients through out the past few years. Here are a few thougths about her journey:

Anita, tell the world a little bit about yourself

I was a dental hygienist for 30 years and then reinvented myself. I went back to school at the age of 45 my second semester I was enrolled in a research course and the light switch went off, (two and a half years later and 52 credits I graduated), and that is what I pursued since 2007 with no regrets. Once obtaining my BS in the middle of the program I realized that a BS is not enough in these new days. I knew if I stopped now I would not return to school. So off to a Maters program 36 credits, 125 page research thesis paper and two years later before the age of 50 I had my Master of Science degree. Then started my very quick climb up the research latter. It was so quick that I had a new position every year or so. Then came a point where no one wanted me because of that. Until someone saw the value of all these necessary moves. I am now the Program Administer for the Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

Tell us a bit about your interests.

I have a variety of interest: Yoga, meditation, Reiki, cycling, pickle ball, reading, travel and gardening.

When and how did you start your healing journey?

I started my healing journey in 2019 when I got laid off and hit a wall. Something was off but I was not quite sure what. I came as far as I could by myself. I knew I needed some outside intervention if I wanted to move forward. It was a long struggle that I kept plotting along. I always had belief in myself. However, there came a point when I had to take a step back and re-evaluate am I not seeing some thing or do I have a different pair of glass on then from everyone else.. Once I took that step back that’s when the flood gates opened. I gained momentum. I learned patience, struggle and surrender. Looking back I can see now that I had to go through certain things that were not so pleasant at the time, they were downright painful but it was all part of the journey. Yes, even the tough times were part of the journey. Now I have a surplus of resources both mentally and emotionally that I pass on every day to make others better and indirectly all humanity and a better place to live.

What advice do you have for those who are taking their first steps towards healing?

Advice I would say is to surrender and that everything is happening for a reason. What I had to go through made me stronger. I had to learn a lot of lessons to appreciate what I was going to step into. Now I have my dream life, dream job. I am so fortunate and blessed. But it did require a lot of patience, and waiting until the timing was right. Everything takes time and there is a reason for everything that is happening. You just need to go through certain things to get to the other side. The best way out is through.
